Tile Sharks
Version 1.0 - Demo
A door game for Wildcat!
Shareware demo version
=============================================================================
INTRODUCTION
============
This game is a clone of the popular game show, Card Sharks. Unlike
that TV game show, this one utilizes "dice" instead of playing cards.
HOW TO PLAY
===========
After your users are presented with the opening screens, they will be
shown five blank dice and then shown the first one on the right. They
will then be asked to place a bet and after that bet has been placed,
they will be asked whether they think the next die to the left will be
higher or lower than the one shown. After that choice has been made,
the next die will be revealed and the game will continue through all 5
dice in that set. There are three regular rounds with 5 dice in each
round and two SuperRounds with 2 dice in each of those rounds.
As for traps and pitfalls, well, we did put a few of those into this
program (afterall, it wouldn't be a game of chance without them). In
the SuperRounds (and only in those two rounds) there are Joker Dice
roaming around just waiting to take all of some unlucky user's money.
If you or your users do get one of those little rotten Joker Dice, they
go bankrupt, so beware!!
SET-UP
======
This door uses MicroSoft QuickBASIC library BRUN45.EXE to operate.
I have made this door as "Murphy-proof" as I possibly could. This
shareware demo version has a time bomb in it. To those SysOp's that
feel that time bombs are unfair, I counter with the fact that the
first three door releases of mine were all without any time bombs at
all and now, after about 300 downloads of those programs, I have
exactly 13 paid registrations. My time and effort are valuable to
me and my company and therefore, we tried it without time bombs and
it didn't work, so now we try it WITH time bombs and see how that
goes.
This version is a complete working copy of the registered version
with the exception that the registered version will work without any
expiration date and there will be no little reminder messages about
the need to register.
Other than that, I have also included the file CREATETS.EXE. Use this
file to create the DOORxx.BAT or LIVExx.BAT file needed to call the
game from Wildcat and also create the file TISHARKS.CFG tailored to your
BBS. All you need to do is to create the directory where the program
will be run from (Ex: D:\WILDCAT\DOORS\TISHARKS), then move ALL of the
files included in this .ZIP into that directory and then type CREATETS
and follow the instructions and prompts.
Speaking of included files, here is a list of the files included in
this .ZIP file.
TISHARKS.EXE............The main program file
SYSOP.TXT...............The file you are reading now
TISHARKS.TXT............On-line instruction file
REGISTER.FRM............Registration form for this and
other programs written by Tim
Rivers & Crystal Systems Intl.
CREATETS.EXE............Program used to create the DOORxx
or LIVExx.BAT and TISHARKS.CFG files
PRINTDOC.BAT............Batch file to print this file
TISHARKS.SCO............Sample score file. NOTE: This
file MUST be included to start the
game. It will be updated and the
names in it now deleted when you
run the game the first time
CLOSING
=======
In closing, let me say that I hope that you and your users enjoy this
game as much as I did putting it together. I welcome comments or
suggestions on how to make this or other programs released by myself
better. This program will work with a locked DTE up to 19200 and has
been tested as such on Jim Brewer's system, Gulf Coast BBS
(1-813-856-7926) . It should also be noted that this program runs
under CATPATCH version 3 released by Jim Brewer and available on
Mustang Software's Wildcat! BBS for registered SysOps and on several
other BBS' around the country.
Registration fees for this program are $20 US and checks should be
made out to and sent to:
Timothy L. Rivers
President
Crystal Systems International
Post Office Box 110651
Hialeah, Florida 33011-0651
Please make sure that all checks are payable to Timothy L. Rivers and
NOT to Crystal Systems International!!
This program is fully supported through the above address and through
Mustang Software's support BBS for registered SysOps.
